Despite a disappointing result against his former club Olympique Lyon, Karim Benzema believes Real Madrid has what it takes to progress in the Champions League and catch Barcelona in the La Liga title race.

“I do not think Olympique played their best game. We knew they were going to be very strong physically and they would be well placed. They rose to the level of the Champions League,” Benzema said in Real’s official website. “[But I] have great faith in the desire to have this team move forward in the Champions League. And we can win the league."

Los Blancos are just two points behind league leaders Barcelona, and will attempt reverse their 1-0 deficit to Lyon when the French side visits the Bernabeu in March.
