Following the club’s 1-1 draw away to Bavarian rivals Nurnberg yesterday, Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal declared that his team had produced one of their best performances, while captain Mark van Bommel said the Allianz Arena outfit deserved more than a point.

"We were much better today than against Fiorentina" said van Gaal, "it was one of our best performances."

Bayern had taken the lead and gone into half-time with a 1-0 cushion. Nurnberg though battled hard for the entire game and when they created an opportunity mid-way through the second half they took it with Gundogan finding the net.

"It’s ended 1-1, the wrong result" said van Bommel, "but these things happen. I don’t think we can be accused of carelessness today. We deserved more from the game."
