Chelsea extended their lead at the pinnacle of the Premier League to four points with a win over Wolverhampton on Saturday, thanks to two goals from the prolific Didier Drogba. The Ivory Coast striker found the back of the net late in the first-half and early in the second to sink the relegation battlers.
“Didier is in form. However important Wayne Rooney is for Man United, Didier is as important for us,” goalkeeper Petr Cech said to the club’s official website. “He has always been one of the best strikers in the world and you can see he doesn’t need much to score goals. One Saturday he had two and a half chances and scored two goals.”
Drogba has now increased his goal total for the season to 25 in 29 appearances, and will be looking to add to his tally when Chelsea visit Inter Milan on Wednesday night.
