Nigeria will be playing under a new coach in the coming World Cup, after the Nigeria Football Federation decided to sack Shaibu Amodu following the nation’s third place finish in the Africa Cup of Nations. Former England managers Glenn Hoddle and Sven-Goran Eriksson are being considered for the task to lead out The Super Eagles in the World’s biggest stage in June.
“We have five candidates, and Glenn Hoddle is one of them. He took his turn yesterday and we will make a decision tomorrow evening,” an NFF spokesperson said. Eriksson’s representative has since provided news of contact as well, revealing, “Sven met with the federation today. It was a general discussion rather than an interview I would say. We will see what happens."
Sweden’s Lars Lagerback, former Senegal boss Bruno Metsu and ex-Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic are the others believed to be in contention.
