England coach Fabio Capello has shed more light on why he stripped Chelsea man John Terry of the national team captaincy, and also why Terry is unlikely to regain the role under the Italian.
The ex-Real Madrid boss confirmed Terry would not have the captaincy at the World Cup, but he went further in saying: "After the World Cup? If I remain as England manager then I think not." said Capello.
The England boss also allowed a further glimpse into his thinking behind the decision to take the armband away from the defender.
"I ask the captain to set a good example for young people. What he did was not good. I told him this [and] he understood."
With Capello likely to remain as England boss into Euro 2012, barring a huge failure at the World Cup, the prospects for Terry regaining the national team captaincy look bleak.
