Daniel Agger underwent scans right after his side’s 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, with doctors discovering that there was severe bruising in the defender’s right knee. Liverpool were victors in the match, but left wounded with Fabio Aurelio, Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Skrtel all picking up knocks as well.

A club spokesperson said to Liverpool’s official website, "Daniel underwent a scan this morning which has shown severe bruising to the bone in his right knee. The knee is still very swollen and he will continue to receive treatment at Melwood this week."

The club have also confirmed that Skrtel will not require surgery on a metatarsal injury, but will likely be out for up eight weeks.
