Manchester United captain Gary Neville feels that their recent Carling Cup success will galvanise the players to push on even stronger in the season to try to capture Premier League and Champions League glory as well. The fiery right-back claims past triumphs in the competition have had such an effect on the squad, and is hoping it will once again prove to be the perfect springboard for a challenging run-in.

"People may say it’s the lesser of the cup competitions but I think this can be a springboard for us to go on and be more successful," Neville told MUTV. "It’s proved to be in previous years and hopefully it will be again this season."

Man Utd, who have a chance to regain top spot, resume their run for four straight Premier League titles when they play Wolverhampton at the weekend.
