Cristiano Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to be the best footballer in the world, and has constantly expressed his wish to go down in history as one of the greats in the sport. Many have taken such comments as arrogance, but Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane believes the former Manchester United mainstay has the mentality to back up all his talk.

"Cristiano Ronaldo wants and works hard to be the best. He wakes up early every morning to arrive at Valdebebas (training centre) at 8 am,” Zidane says in the club’s official website. “This is two hours before calling time. He is a good kid, noble and hard working."

Zidane has also since expressed he has no intention to apologise to Marco Materazzi, who he head butted in the 2006 World Cup.
