According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, William Gallas has yet to agree terms with Premier League club Arsenal over a contract extension. The French defender, who is set to turn 33-years-old in August, has been a rock in The Gunners’ defence, but should an agreement fail to be reached, a club are already waiting in the wings.
AS Roma are believed to be monitoring Gallas’ situation and are waiting for an opportunity to snap up the aging defender. Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri knows all about the Frenchman’s abilities since their time together with The Blues, and believes the versatility to play at left-back as well as the centre, makes the Arsenal man a prime target.
Roma are now third in the Serie A standings, stuttering in the league at the weekend, as they failed to recover from the heartbreak of being dumped out of the Europa League in midweek.
