Former World Cup winner with Brazil, Alberto Parreira, insists his South Africa side are still deep in preparations for the World Cup. The host nation could only manage a disappointing draw against neighbours Namibia, with the manager intent to run his eye on a few fringe players and veterans that have been out for lengthy period.
“A fair result should have been a win. It’s always a process and a lesson, and I was grateful for the opportunity to look again at some players who have not been with the team for so long,” Parreira said on Fifa.com. “It was good to see them again, and it helps our decision-making for the World Cup. Everything is part of the process.”
South Africa are in danger of not progressing from the group stages in the World Cup, drawn with challenging teams Mexico, France and Uruguay.
