Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch made the most of his substitute appearance against Egypt last night, scoring an impressive brace to complete England’s come from behind victory at Wembley. The awkward forward reveals there is a pressure that comes with representing one’s country, but judging from his performance last night, it doesn’t seem to be an issue.

"All I can do is that when I’m given my chance, try and take it. Hopefully I’ve given him [Fabio Capello] something to think about tonight,” Crouch said on the club’s official website. “I think anyone who plays for England, especially in a World Cup year, is going to feel some pressure, especially at home. You just try and do your best, and thankfully I did tonight."

Crouch’s team-mate Jermain Defoe however, failed to impress, and could find a spot in the World Cup squad elusive.
