Former Aston Villa right-back Mark Delaney believes Martin O’Neill’s side have the perfect opportunity to get the heartbreak of losing the Carling Cup final to Manchester United off their minds by beating Reading in the FA Cup quarterfinals at the weekend.

"I think you could see by the faces how disappointed the lads were. Hopefully that will be short-lived and they can bounce back and get into the semi-final of the FA Cup, which of course again is at Wembley,” Delaney said in the club’s official website. "They have got that competition and the league to play for still – they have the chance to bounce back straight away.”

Villa are also well in the running for fourth spot in the Premier League, currently sitting in seventh, four points off the Champions League qualification zone, but with two games in hand.
