Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has been having a massive season so far, currently the club’s top goal scorer and leading assist-maker, making him instrumental in the club’s hopes to keep pushing for silverware. Such is his value to The Gunners, that manager Arsene Wenger is contemplating gambling on his fitness for the team’s crucial second leg match against Porto in the Champions League.

I’m ready to take the gamble, but it depends how big the gamble is. If it is more than a 50 per cent chance his hamstring goes then I will not take it,” Wenger said in the club’s official website. “You look at the numbers of Fabregas this season and it is amazing – 14 goals, 15 assists. He’s a fantastic player, with fantastic attitude and commitment. And what people forget an unbelievable work-rate too. He is everywhere and this season he has made a big step forward, massive. It was interesting to see that although he has already played at 16 but, at 22, he has still matured.”

Fabregas is a major doubt for Tuesday’s massive game, having re-injured a previous hamstring problem suffered in December.
