Everton got back on track after successive defeats to Sporting Lisbon and Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend by thumping Hull City. The Merseyside club were on a three-game winning streak before their little blip, a run that included remarkable wins over Chelsea and Manchester United. Defender Sylvain Distin believes the team’s closeness is what is getting them back into their impressive form.

"That is something money can’t buy," the centre-back told the club’s official website. "The atmosphere and the chemistry between players is something you need, as well as big players. You need to feel good together as you spend a lot of time together, sometimes more time than we spend with our families! You have to work hard for each other and you need a good team spirit to do that.”

Everton are now ninth in the Premier League, successfully recovering from a disastrous start to the season, and now just eight points off fourth-placed Tottenham.
