Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner was under immense pressure to perform since his return from injury on the 27th of January, with the club in dire need of reinforcements in the forward positions. His comeback didn’t go as well as planned however, and the Dane was subsequently at the end of plenty of criticism. The 22-year-old has since responded though, and has bagged five goals in his last four appearances for The Gunners, including a hat-trick against Porto.
"If you look at him now and three to four weeks ago, he is a different player," said Wenger on the club’s official website. "A few weeks ago he looked out of shape, heavy running, heavy feet. It is already different as he plays games. What is important for him is that he is not injured. As a top-level player, first when you need to have a good run and you have a good run it is important."
Bendtner’s impressive form has spilled over to international level as well, with him scoring a towering header for Denmark last week.
