Guus Hiddink will not be coaching the Ivory Coast at the coming World Cup. The current Russia boss, who will take over as Turkey coach when his contract ends in June, explained that he will not be leading the African side despite the best efforts of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Hiddink spoke to Dutch newspaper de Telegraaf telling them of his decision not to accept the Ivory Coast job.

"Didier Drogba lobbied hugely for me [to get the job] and president Jacques Anouma impressed me. But two things are true. First, I must respect my contract with Russia…And then I gave my word to Turkey. Its leaders are very professional and I could not do that to them."

With the refusal of the Dutch coach, the Ivory Coast’s search for a new coach to lead them to South Africa continues.
