Salomon Kalou has revealed the huge appreciation he has for former manager Jose Mourinho, who will return to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. The Portuguese tactician signed the largely unknown Ivory Coast international from Feyenoord in 2006, and made him a regular in a formidable Chelsea side.
“He’s one of the best managers I’ve played for and he brought a lot to my career," Kalou said on UEFA.com. "When he signed me at Chelsea he gave me a lot of confidence. He always put me in the team, no matter what game. He brought a lot of positive things to my career so I’ll never forget him."
Kalou has found playing time hard to come by upon the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian preferring to use Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda to support Didier Drogba in attack.
