Florent Malouda was vital in Chelsea’s win over West Ham United at the weekend, a victory that briefly sent The Blues to the top of the Premier League table. The Frenchman returned to his usual attacking position after being forced to adopt a more defensive role in his last few games, and his proficiency going forward was a clear indication of where he plays best.
“I really enjoyed that game,” confessed Malouda on the club’s official website after Saturday’s match. “It was a good afternoon for me and the lads. After the disappointing loss against Man City it was important for us and for our fans to win that game. I was happy to come back into the offensive midfielder position and I simply tried to enjoy the game.”
Malouda had a hand in three of the four goals Chelsea scored on the day, assisting two and scoring one of his own. His display was so impressive, manager Carlo Ancelotti claimed it was the best he had seen of the former Lyon player.
