Youngster Adam Johnson secured a dramatic 90th minute equaliser for Manchester City against Sunderland on Sunday. The 22-year-old came off the bench with only 17 minutes of regulation left, but made a remarkable contribution before netting the vital goal that ensured heartbreak for Sunderland. Manager Roberto Mancini was full of praise for the English midfielder, and claims the former Middlesbrough man has a bright future ahead of him.
"Adam Johnson is a very talented player and I think he will be representing his country on a regular basis before too long,” said Mancini on the club’s official website. “I thought [Craig] Bellamy and [Shaun] Wright-Phillips did well today, but Johnson changed the game for us today and I was very happy with his contribution and I think there is much more to come from him.”
Johnson’s impressive performance will surely heap pressure on Bellamy and Wright-Phillips, who are considered the club’s first-choice players on the wings.
