Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claims the man who replaced him, Florentino Perez, is “obsessed” with Manchester United’s scorching hot striker Wayne Rooney. He believes however, it will be much more difficult to lure the Englishman than it was Cristiano Ronaldo, who had stated on numerous occasions his desire to play for Los Blancos.
“It seems that Wayne Rooney is an obsession for Florentino Perez, but I imagine that Manchester United would not like to lose a player like him,” Calderon said to Spanish paper Marca. “Sometimes it’s just a matter of money and if there is a proposal, they may come to be an agreement. But you have to consider, the most important thing is what the player wants to do.”
With Rooney adamant to remain at Man Utd for the rest of his football career, Perez will have an uphill task trying to lure the prolific striker to the Santiago Bernabeu.
