Alex Song believes Arsenal are producing late-game heroics because they never stray away from their footballing principles. The Cameroonian, who could only watch Nicklas Bendtner snatch the last-gasp winner at the weekend due to suspension, believes Arsene Wenger’s philosophy should be given the credit for their recent late winners.
“The manager trusts us to do the job,” Song said on the club’s official website. “If the referee says we have four minutes or two minutes left then the boss says ‘don’t panic, be confident and play’. That means if the opposition team drop we have the chance to score. If the game is not finished we know we can score at anytime.”
Arsenal’s late-game heroics sees them keep pace with leaders Manchester United, who are only leading by two points.
