Bordeaux continue their impressive run in the Champions League, dispatching of Last 16 opponents Olympiacos with little fuss. Despite already beating football giants Bayern Munich and Juventus earlier in the tournament, manager Laurent Blanc admits he is hoping to avoid last year’s champions in the next round.
“Among the eight clubs who are through to the quarters, there are six or even seven who would want to be drawn with Bordeaux,” Blanc said on Ligue1.com. “For me, there’s one team I really want to avoid, that’s Barcelona, who remain the most frightening side in the competition.”
The Champions League quarterfinals is gearing up to be a very interesting prospect, with all of Europe’s biggest football nations represented.
