Didier Drogba claims he accepts Chelsea need to regroup and improve if they want to progress further in the Champions League next season. The Ivorian, who was sent off late in the match after frustration got the better of him, reveals that the pain of exiting the competition at Stamford Bridge is proving to be close to unbearable.

At the end of the day Inter [Milan] were a better team,” Drogba said on the club’s official website. “We couldn’t play our game and they were stronger than us. But it is difficult to stop at this stage of the competition and be out. It is tough because every season you start the Champions League you have a lot of belief and then to go out like this, especially at home, it’s just very difficult.”

Chelsea, despite coming very close to winning the Champions League in recent years, have yet to lift the elusive trophy.
