Aston Villa striker John Carew believes that with the unfortunate injury of AC Milan’s David Beckham, comes the perfect opportunity for team-mate Ashley Young to be a part of the England squad in the World Cup. The Norwegian striker has benefited from the young winger’s impressive performances as of late and fully believes that Fabio Capello should seriously consider making a place for the crafty player.

Beckham had been working hard to be a part of the England squad so you will always feel sorry for him. But then when he gets injured, new opportunities open for other people and we will be really pleased and proud for Ashley if he gets in there,” Carew said on the league’s official website. "I think he deserves it. Fabio saw that Ashley was absolutely wonderful against Wolves and he should be on the flight."

Carew isn’t the only one singing Young’s praise, with manager Martin O’Neill a big advocate for his England inclusion as well.
