As was recently reported, Sevilla manager Manolo Jimenez was given until the match against Xerez to prove his worth to chairman Jose Maria del Nido and the rest of the board. Unfortunately for the third year boss, an injury time equaliser, which ensured the club’s seventh game without a win, was to be the final nail in the coffin.
A statement on the club’s official website said. “The Sevilla board have dismissed Manolo Jimenez. Wednesday’s training will be led by Ramón Tejada, pending the board making a definitive decision about the future coach of the team."
Such a heartbreaking draw will undoubtedly play in the mind of Jimenez, who was literally minutes away from winning the match and potentially keeping his job as Sevilla manager.
