Everton triumphed over Manchester City last night, in a tight affair that saw both managers David Moyes and Roberto Mancini sent off near the end of the match. Although the Scot felt he didn’t deserve to be given his marching orders, he claims he holds no grudge against the former Inter Milan boss.

"I could have let the ball go down the line but that would have been even worse so I grabbed it and kept it, hoping to make a substitution,” Moyes explained on the club’s official website. “The next moment I think he was on top of me but these things happen in football. He was showing his passion for his football club and I have no problem with that.”

Tim Cahill opened the scoring in the first half, before Mikel Arteta sealed the victory in the 85th minute with Everton’s second.
