After barely staving off relegation in the previous season, Getafe are currently in the surprising position of eighth in the league, just five points behind Deportivo La Coruna and an automatic Europa League spot. Ahead of the club’s match against Real Madrid on Thursday, manager and former Los Blancos player Michel, believes the Spanish giants are deserving of their place at the top of the table.
“Madrid have been holding off Barcelona’s charge lately and they are looking very good," Michel said on Uefa’s official website. "They’ve earned the privileged position they find themselves in at the top of the standings."
Michel has been very impressive this season, successfully transforming his side to a winning team using much of the same players as last campaign.
