Sunderland made it five matches unbeaten last night when they held on to draw top four contenders Aston Villa. Former Manchester United forward Frazier Campbell scored the vital goal to share the points, but he is quick to highlight the result as more important than his individual contribution.
“Getting a vital point was more important to me than getting the goal," Campbell said on the club’s official website. "The lads dug deep and did really well. We are happy with a point. Our away record hasn’t been great while Villa are pushing for Europe and that fourth spot while doing well in the cups.”
Sunderland’s unbeaten run will be put to a real test in the next couple of weeks, with the Black Cats set to face Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in quick succession.
