Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, revealed after his side’s impressive 3-1 win over Fulham, that he took plenty of gambles to attempt to make it into the FA Cup semi-finals. Tom Huddlestone, Roman Pavlyuchenko, and Wilson Palacios were all massive doubts before the match, but all featured in the tight quarter-final.
"We took a gamble with Tom Huddlestone," Redknapp stated on BBC Sport. "He’s been out and had only trained for one day. We took an even bigger gamble with Pav – he had a fitness test on Tuesday,” he added. "Palacios tore his groin on Tuesday. The physio said there was no way he’d be able to play but he turned up today and said ‘I’m going to be all right to play’. Don’t ask me how he did it but he did."
To add to Redknapp’s delight of progressing in the cup, Manchester City and Aston Villa stuttered in the league as well to ensure Spurs remain in fourth spot.
