Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is delighted with having secured the signature of Brazilian youngster Sandro and revealed that he believes the club have signed one of the brightest prospects from Brazilian football.

Sandro, 21, passed a medical yesterday and put pen to paper on a deal which will see him land in London following the conclusion of his Brazilian team, Internacional’s Copa Libertadores campaign.

Redknapp explained why he was delighted to have done the deal. He told Tottenham’s official site: "He is an outstanding young player who we feel has a great future. He is a strong and aggressive midfield player. We are looking forward to having him here with us next season."

The young star has already captained his country’s under-20 side and clocked up an appearance for the senior team. Both clubs have not disclosed the amount Spurs have paid for Sandro, but negotiations were long and protracted and a figure of €10M had been mooted by the Brazilian press.
