Cesc Fabregas has had a tremendous season for Arsenal, scoring 18 goals and assisting 19 in just 35 appearances. The Gunners’ skipper is enjoying his most prolific campaign in front of goal, an improvement that manager Arsene Wenger attributes to a couple of things aside from their change of formation.
“I believe he is more relaxed,” said the Arsenal boss on the club’s official website. “There is less tension in his finishing. You feel that before he wanted to force the chance and now he is more relaxed. Also he has gained more physical power,” he continued. “You can see he resists much more the runs of his opponents and he is more powerful in his runs. These two ingredients make a big difference.”
The 22-year-old’s output this season has been amazing for a midfielder, and should he not win his battle to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday, will be a big blow for Arsenal.
