Manchester City boosted their chances of qualifying for the Champions League last night, as they defeated Wigan Athletic 3-0, thanks to a hat-trick from the in form Carlos Tevez. The win cuts fourth placed Tottenham’s lead to just two points, with only six Premier League games left to play in the season.
“It was a tough game because Wigan played well. But I’m happy, and I’m very happy for Carlos because he played so well,” Man City manager Roberto Mancini said on the club’s official website. “I hope he can continue like this for the rest of the season.”
With his latest hat-trick, Tevez has now managed 19 league goals, and 25 in all competitions, equalling his best ever total in a single season.
