Arsenal will have to wait on news of Cesc Fabregas after the striker suffered an injury in the club’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League. Fabregas, who was rated 40% likely to take the field against the La Liga giants, pulled out all the stops to be involved in the game, and the move looks to have backfired.
The Spanish midfielder fears that he may have suffered a broken leg and that his season could be over.
"I fear the worst, which is that I have broken something" said Fabregas. "It is the fibula. I think I put my leg between [Carles] Puyol’s when I was fouled, and kicked it."
The Gunners also suffered injury blows to Andrei Arshavin and William Gallas with the duo picking up calf niggles. While the Premier League side’s hopes of taking the result they need from the Camp Nou in the return leg appear slim after being outplayed for much of the match, boss Arsene Wenger will be more concerned that injuries to key players could dent their title bid.
