Former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele appears to be close to turning his back on planned retirement and continuing to play. Currently at Paris-Saint Germain, the 37-year-old Makelele told the press in February that he was going to call it a day and hang up his boots.
"This is my last season. My [playing career] is behind me. Today is my last season, but tomorrow it may change" said the midfielder in February.
However, France Football report that Makelele appears to have had a change of heart after Paris Saint-Germain officials urged him to continue. The ex-Chelsea player is under contract until 2013 at the Ligue 1 club, earning €350,000 per month. Should he decide to continue, then it is thought this will fall to €262,000 per month next season.
Makelele eventually wishes to take a role at the club advising the president and playing a major part in helping PSG back to the top of French football.
