Sir Alex Ferguson has provided an update on Wayne Rooney’s injury situation, believing that the striker will be ruled out for between two and three weeks. Rooney will certainly miss Manchester United’s meeting with Chelsea tomorrow and clashes with Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League.
However, according to Ferguson’s timescale Rooney is aiming to return in time for the club’s crucial clash with local rivals Manchester City on the 17th April. Results could by that time dictate that Man Utd have breathing space in the title race, or the game could be of immense importance.
Ferguson told the press that, especially for England’s hopes at the World Cup, "the nation can stop praying now!"
