Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has praised his coach Josep Guardiola and said when he arrived in the Camp Nou dugout it was like a breath of fresh air. The Ivory Coast star felt the club had gone stale under previous boss Frank Rijkaard and Guardiola was needed to inject new life into the side. This he has done to fantastic effect.
Toure was speaking to Russians sport.ru and said: "Pep [Guardiola] came and changed the psychology of the team", the former Olympiacos midfielder also suggested all was not well within the Barcelona dressing room towards the end of Rijkaard’s reign.
"There had been problems before. But as Pep [Guardiola] made us all equal a breath of fresh air went through the dressing room."
This season Toure thinks Guardiola has further reinforced his reputation and the Camp Nou giants have performed magnificently.
"It’s a very tough league. 74 points is fantastic."
