Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben could miss the club’s vital Champions League second leg clash against Manchester United in midweek. The Dutchman sat out the Bundesliga clash with Schalke at the weekend and despite Louis van Gaal being hopeful that he could call upon his services in Manchester it is now looking decidedly uncertain.
"I still hope he can play in Manchester" van Gaal said to ZDF, "but we must be very careful because he has muscle fatigue."
However, despite the possibility of being without Robben, van Gaal is confident that the Allianz Arena outfit could cope.
"Remember that we were forced to do without Franck Ribery for months…so we can do without Robben."
Bayern Munich hold a slender one goal advantage going into their second leg with Manchester United and the feeling within Germany is that they will probably need to score to ensure progression. Whatever the coach’s words, a fit Arjen Robben would only help their cause.
