Carlo Ancelotti admits there to be some “economical” issues with regards to Joe Cole’s contract extension talks, but is convinced that the crafty attacker will remain a Chelsea player for the near future. The former West Ham United talent has shown signs of rekindling his pace and ability in recent matches, subsequently cooling speculation of a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

He will definitely sign a new contract. There is no problem, don’t worry,” Ancelotti claimed on the league’s official website. "I’ve spoken a lot about Joe Cole with my club and everyone has a desire for him to stay at Chelsea and so does he. There is not a problem, it is an economical problem nothing else."

The Italian tactician also believes that should the midfielder continue in his current form, he will be on the plane to the World Cup with England.
