Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is having a season to forget so far, having been dumped out of the Champions League and currently in danger of failing to finish fourth in the Premier League. The skipper has been far from his usually talismanic self this campaign as well, managing only nine goals at present, well short of his 20-goal hauls in the past two seasons.

"The challenge for me now is to finish the season strongly. It has been frustrating at times this year with injuries and dips in form,” Gerrard said on the club’s official website. “I haven’t been reaching the level I want to play at, but it can’t always be possible. I’ve got to accept that."

Gerrard will need to rediscover the form that Liverpool have come to expect from him, and soon, as The Reds try to salvage what is left of a disastrous 2009/10 season.
