Defender Liam Ridgewell has enjoyed his time with Birmingham City since his move from archrivals Aston Villa in 2007, and is determined to extend his stay with the club. The 25-year-old has been a key player in the side’s impressive adaptation to life in the Premier League, helping guide the side to an impressive ninth in the league standings at present.

I don’t want to leave Birmingham, of course not. We’ve had a good season, we’re doing well – and I’m enjoying it here,” Ridgewell said on the league’s official website. "I’ve left the new contract down to my agent. It’s easier for me to concentrate on my game, the football, and let the contract take care of itself.

Ridgewell’s current deal ends in the summer, but a new contract is expected to be imminent.
