Gael Clichy believes he is finally getting back to full fitness after experiencing a slow start upon his return from almost three months out due to a back injury. The defender returned to action for Arsenal in January, but has only recently felt like he is back to his desired sharpness.

"Even if you’ve been out for four months, people expect you to do well when you’re back on the pitch and don’t want any excuses," Clichy told the club’s official website. “My game is based on fitness and if I’m sharp I can do really well – I’m feeling fresh and recovering quite well between the games, so I’m sure I can perform even better. There aren’t many games to go now and I want to show that I can deliver for Arsenal."

The left-back has taken time to reinsert himself in the squad, but will be vital as the season reaches a very tight finish.
