Having been ever present in the late stages of the Champions League in recent years, it came as a surprise that no English clubs made it to the last four this season. Manager Carlo Ancelotti, whose Chelsea side were eliminated in the round of 16, isn’t getting too concerned though, claiming the standard of the Premier League is still at a very high level.
“Nothing has changed, the Premier League is still a very competitive championship,” Ancelotti insists on the club’s official website. “’Sometimes this can happen that no team makes the final four but English teams maintain very good strengths. It is a case this year of a blip,”
The Italian tactician is confident, despite his side’s early exit from the Champions League, that The Blues are capable of beating any of the top teams in Europe at any given time.
