Having signed a new six-year contract with Liverpool, goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been hailed as the best in Europe by the club’s assistant manager Sammy Lee.
"He’s the best goalkeeper in Europe" Lee told the club’s official website, adding "His distribution and ability with the ball is second to none. He sees situations which could be a problem for the opposition before anyone else and that shows the quality of the lad."
The Anfield club’s assistant boss played with some of the side’s greatest keepers, including Ray Clemence and Bruce Grobbelaar, and has no doubt that Reina is up there with both of them – high praise indeed.
Reina joined Liverpool in 2005 after the club had won the Champions League for what now looks like a bargain £7M fee.
