Portsmouth, a day after they were confirmed to be relegated to the Championship, managed the unthinkable as they knocked out Tottenham Hotspur from the FA Cup to reach the final. Manager Avram Grant was so impressed with his side’s achievement despite all the adversity the club have endured, that he rated the win as “more than football.”
"This is a great achievement after what has happened,” Grant said on BBC Sport. "One day I came and all my staff said to me next week there is no club. We could write a book about the many things against us this season. "I cannot even describe what I feel. This achievement is more than football – to be in the final, it’s unbelievable."
Debt-ridden Pompey are set to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final set in May.
