Ahead of the weekend’s Manchester derby, Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand claims mega-rich Manchester City, despite all their resources, will continue to feel immense pressure on the pitch so long as trophies continue to elude them. The Citizens are currently out of the running for any silverware this season, but are in prime position to finish in fourth place in the standings.

Well, they’ve got the capacity to challenge because they’ve got so much money and they’re targeting the big players,” Ferdinand claimed on the club’s official website, before adding, “But the first trophy is always the hardest one to win and until they do that there’ll be a lot of pressure on them.”

Although Man City are without a chance to win any silverware this season, they are in prime position to finish in fourth place in the Premier League standings.
