Despite the disappointment of losing out to archrivals Barcelona and relinquishing the La Liga standings lead, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is confident his side will still have chances to return to the summit of the league. The Spanish international points to Barcelona’s difficult away matches as the perfect opportunity to make up the ground lost.
"Thinking about Barcelona’s road matches against Sevilla and Villarreal is inevitable,” Ramos said on the club’s official website. “There is a chance they won’t earn all those points and we aspire to take all of ours. The league we won with [Fabio] Capello appeared to be lost but we ended up winning it."
Real Madrid’s exclusion from the Champions League could come to their advantage now, as Barca have to worry about Inter Milan as well as their push for the title.
