Arsenal have confirmed that Robin van Persie will make his return to competitive football tonight, when The Gunners take on Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby. The Dutch striker has been out since November after suffering ruptured ligaments in his ankle on international duty.
Although van Persie is expected to start on the bench, manager Arsene Wenger insists the long-term injury victim has recovered fully and is ready to handle the rigours of the Premier League, saying to BBC Sport, “He will feature. He lacks a bit of match practice but when I pick a player it means he’s fit and sharp."
Arsenal will be hoping the Dutchman, who was on a run of eight goals in 11 matches before his injury, can return to the same type of form as they continue to chase Chelsea for the league title.
