Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has offered some encouraging words to West Ham United’s under-fire manager Gianfranco Zola ahead of their clubs’ clash next Monday evening. The Italian boss has endured a disastrous second season with The Hammers, who are currently just four points above the relegation zone.
“He’s a nice person and a good manager. He has a lot of experience as a player and as a manager he wants to improve and learn. I think he has a great future,” Benitez said on the club’s official website. “They have a good team and staff. They have been talking about one more win – hopefully that will not be against us, but I think they’ll stay up.”
West Ham impressively finished ninth in the league in Zola’s first season, a far cry from the present position of the struggling club.
