Aston Villa’s faint chances of reaching fourth spot in the Premier League are looking even dimmer after the side’s 2-2 draw with Everton last night, but captain Stiliyan Petrov remains adamant that the club should not give up. Although he admits that achieving the feat is no longer in their hands, he stays positive about the rest of the season.
“We need to win all five if we are to be counted as contenders to be in the top four game. We need to win them,” Petrov said on the club’s official website. "It will be tough because the other teams have got an advantage at the moment. But we’ll keep battling.”
Villa’s season has unravelled in the last month, with the club getting knocked out of the FA Cup on top of managing just two wins in the Premier League in their last seven matches.
