Barcelona extended their lead over Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga standings to six points, after they dispatched of Deportivo La Coruna 3-0 last night. After a remarkable week that saw the Catalan giants qualify for the Champions League semi-finals and beat Real Madrid, manager Josep Guardiola was delighted with his side’s desire to continue their winning ways.

There was a certain fear," the second-year boss explained on the club’s official website regarding the side’s state going into the match. "It seemed like we had already reached a sort of milestone. But the way that we answered that says a lot about the mental strength of these players, but we are not there yet."

Barcelona will continue their push to defend their La Liga title at the weekend, when they visit Espanyol.
